Louise Olson, originally from Halifax in West Yorkshire, graduated from The University of Manchester in 2010. Louise undertook her core surgical training and higher urology specialist training in The North West Deanery, achieving her FRCS (Urol) in 2018. She was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Salford Royal Foundation Trust in 2019. Louise performs general and core urology. Her specialist interests include male lower urinary tract reconstruction, functional and neuro-urology. Louise set up and leads The Northern Care Alliance urethral/neuro and functional MDT.
Outside of clinical practice, Louise is actively involved with postgraduate education and teaching and training of doctors and allied health professionals. She has been education lead for the urology department since January 2021 and supports the development of advanced care practitioners and physician associates. Louise has a postgraduate certificate in medical education (PGCME) awarded from Edge Hill University, achieving a distinction in the leadership module.
During Louiseās training she held a national position for 2 years from 2016 to 2018 as The British Association of Urological Surgeons Education Committee trainee representative. She was also nominated for the BAUS Bronze Cystoscope award in 2019.
