Alex Hoyle was schooled in Sedbergh located in the south lakes prior to completing his undergraduate medical training at Manchester University in 2004. He completed his Urology specialist training within the North West Deanery and has been appointed as an NHS Urologist at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust in 2021. His qualifications to date include: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Urology) (FRCS Urol), Doctorate of Medicine (MD) and Post graduate certificate of medical education (PG cert Med Ed).

Alex Hoyle has a keen interest in the medical training of students and other allied health professionals in both the undergraduate and postgraduate setting. This forms the core values behind his continuous professional development.

Alex Hoyle has an active clinical research portfolio which saw him undertake a higher degree of MD at the University of Manchester in 2016. This research was based at the Christie NHS Foundation trust and in collaboration with the STAMPEDE team. His work investigating the utility of metastatic burden in prostate cancer as a biomarker for docetaxel and abiraterone treatment was presented at the Presidential Symposium of ESMO and resulted in multiple high impact publications with international practice changing implications.

Alex Hoyle has developed a specialist interest in pelvic Uro-oncology, with particular focus on the diagnostics and treatment of bladder, kidney and prostate cancer. His involvement in open complex pelvic surgery is further complemented by his robotic pelvic service. Alex Hoyle furthermore provides consultation on the following;

  • Assessment and management of male and female lower urinary tract symptoms
  • Assessment and management of male and female incontinence.
  • Assessment and management of penoscrotal conditions
  • Assessment and management of erectile dysfunction
  • Assessment and management of urinary stone disease
  • Assessment and management of urinary tract infections
  • Assessment and management urological cancers including prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile cancer.

Alex Hoyle provides a personal and bespoke consultation to the needs of the individual in a professional and courteous manner. He will provide explanation and understanding for the condition in question, promoting patient centred care and empowered treatment decisions.
