Mr Alex Hoyle was schooled in Sedbergh located in the south lakes prior to completing his undergraduate medical training at Manchester University in 2004. He completed his Urology specialist training within the North West Deanery and was appointed into his substantive consultant role at Salford Royal Foundation Trust in 2021.
Mr Hoyle enjoys a broad range of urological practice with high quality, personalised care at the forefront of his values. He has specific interest in the investigation and management of urological cancers. This has been complemented by his appointment as pelvic cancer service lead during in which time he has developed and established a robotic surgical service. The drive to innovate and improve standards has seen him lead the department as Clinical Director from 2023. Furthermore, he has a keen interest in clinical research, founded through a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in advanced prostate cancer management. He is actively the Principle Investigator in a number of clinical trials focusing on bladder cancer management.
This range of specialist interests places him well to assess and manage conditions such as: Blood in the urine or sperm, prostate cancer diagnostics or management, and scrotal lumps or concerns. He is experienced in core urology including urinary tract infections, urinary stone disease, male lower urinary tract symptoms, vasectomy requests and the management of foreskin concerns.
His personal approach strives to deliver a bespoke consultation tailored to the needs of the individual in a professional and courteous manner. At the heart of this lies an accountable explanation and understanding for the condition in question, promoting patient centred care and empowered treatment decisions.
